Sylvester Stallone in talks to appear in 'Rambo' TV series

A Rambo TV series is in the works and Sylvester Stallone is in talks to become involved.

The series is being developed by Entertainment One, whose current shows include Rookie Blue and The Firm, in collaboration with Nu Image, the film and TV company run by The Expendables producer Avi Lerner.

Stallone is in negotiations to participate "on a creative level", Variety reports, and could potentially reprise his role as John Rambo.

Stallone last played Rambo, a rough, tough Vietnam War veteran with issues, in a 2008 film simply called Rambo which was produced by Lerner. He had previously starred in three hit '80s action flicks centred on the popular character created by author David Morrell in his novel First Blood.

"'I'm happy to be partnering with a prolific company like Entertainment One who has a track record of creating high quality programming for their broadcast partners around the world," Lerner said in a statement. "And I'm excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy."

Stallone started shooting The Expendables 3 alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson on Monday (August 19).
