Usher’s son appears to have bounced back following his release from hospital.
The singer’s child with ex-wife Tameka Foster, Usher Raymond V, was
swimming at his father’s Atlanta, Georgia, home under his aunt’s
supervision last Monday when he nearly drowned.
Contract workers at the residence are credited with freeing the boy and
giving him CPR after he reportedly got stuck in the pool drain while
trying to get a toy.
Medics arrived to the scene and the boy was transported to a local hospital’s intensive care unit.
Pictures published by TMZ show the boy has since been released.
Usher Raymond V was reportedly with his grandmother as he left Atlanta indoor play centre Mighty Jumps on Monday afternoon.
He wore a bandage on his arm but appeared to be in a jovial mood and was joined by his little brother, four-year-old Naviyd.
Tameka filed legal papers requesting an emergency custody hearing shortly after the pool accident.
The stylist lost her bid for temporary primary custody of the boys
following a tearful day in court, arguing that Usher was a negligent and
unresponsive father who often put the care of their children into
someone else’s hands.
Usher contended he was not an absentee parent and that he never once attempted to bar Tameka from their children’s lives.
He divorced Tameka in 2009 after almost two years of marriage.
A contentious custody battle ensued for years until the musician won primary legal guardianship in August 2012.
That order remains in place.
