FG, ASUU Resumed Talks End In A Deadlock

The Federal Government Needs Assessment Committee and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are yet to reach an agreement to call off the industrial action embarked on by the lecturers.



At a resumed meeting in Abuja, the Chairman of the needs assessment committee, Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue state told journalists that fruitful decision have been made and the two sides are making progress to resolve the impasse.

Suswan highlighted that there are signs of a speedy agreement between the two parties come the next meeting with the inclusion of the Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Okonjo Iweala on the negotiations table, and every issue will be resolved for the lecturer to get back to their classrooms.

Negotiators of the striking lecturers (ASUU) led by its president, Dr Nasir Fagge decline to make any comment after they left the meeting.



The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday the 19th of august 2013.
