Must watch: MTV VMAs
The coveted MTV Video Music Awards are upon us. The who’s who in the music industry will attend the awards show, with those lucky enough to be nominated hoping to walk away with a legendary Moonman.
The 2013 MTV VMAs will be held in at the Brooklyn Barclays Centre in New York. The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards show will be presented live Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
But for audience in Nigeria the ceremony will broadcast live on MTV at 03:00 on Monday 26 August, rebroadcast at 20:30 the same day and on Tuesday 27 August at 16:00 on MTV Base.
Stars will surely bring their best looks to try and outdo one another on the red carpet.
The MTV VMA’s has had the best performances and appearances since it began back in 1984 and this year’s line-up promises an unforgettable show.
Here are the some of the performances you don’t want to miss.
Lady Gaga
The mother monster of pop has resurfaced after recovering from her hip surgery. Lady Gaga knows how to shock fans and has showcased some bizarre looks at past MTV VMA award shows, including her infamous meat dress in 2010.
With her new album due in November, Gaga will perform her newest single Applause at the show.
Robin Thicke
The crooner landed in hot water with YouTube because his video for Blurred Lines was too explicit for the video-sharing site.
Maybe he’ll try his luck with MTV’s censorship and have scantily-clad models dancing on stage.
Miley Cyrus
The new queen of twerkin’ will perform her summer track We Can’t Stop on stage, with plenty of twerkin’ of course.
Miley will surely set tongues wagging with her risqué attitude and barely-there clothing. She explained her style to MTV as combination of white trash and Chanel.
Justin Timberlake
JT will suit up for the stage to perform tracks from his latest album The 20/20 Experience.
It has also been reported that Justin will reunite with his ‘N Sync band mates for a special performance. ‘N Sync fans will surely rejoice at his news!
Katy Perry
The Wide Awake singer will perform her new single ROAR on the MTV VMA stage. It’s the pop princess’ first single since her 2010 album, Teenage Dream.
Hopefully her ex-husband Russell Brand won’t attend the event. Rumour has it that Katy’s new beau, John Mayer is angry with the comedic for making jokes about his marriage to Katy Perry.
Kanye West
The new papa will have to tear himself away from Kim Kardashian and baby North for his performance.
Always exciting, Kanye will remind the world exactly why he is one of the best artists in the world and will make history at this year's ceremony when he ties Madonna's record for most VMA performances.
