Lil Wayne Tells Katie Couric Why Dropping Out of High School Was a Good Thing [VIDEO]

Lil Wayne doesn’t do many interviews. But he engaged in a rare sitdown with Katie Couric for the premiere of the second season of her eponymous show (Sept. 9). In this preview clip, Weezy revealed why dropping out of high school was a good thing for him and why it was his own mama who suggested that he do so.

“Not at all,” Weezy said without hesitation when asked if he had regrets about not finishing high school. He quickly followed up that statement by saying that all the young fans need to say in school and that his own kids are finishing high school. What a good dad Weezy is! Plus, it was a nationally syndicated TV interview. He had to qualify his statement and tell his kids that staying in school is cool. It was a cute moment, seeing Weezy-as-dad.

Regarding his own quitting of school, it was Mama Weezy who suggested that her baby not finish high school, since he already had a platinum album out and life was no longer normal. He was forced to arm himself for protection.

Mama Weezy saw her son getting ready for a day at public school and saw him putting a gun — one that she had purchased for him — in his backpack. Realizing that he had to carry a weapon when going to school, she decided at that moment that he was getting his GED.

He also went to college, so the decision worked out for the rapper.

Tyler Perry Wins ‘Good Deeds’ Copyright Lawsuit

Tyler Perry Wins ‘Good Deeds’ Copyright Lawsuit

Tyler Perry and his longtime distribution partner Lionsgate got the copyright lawsuit against their film “Good Deeds” dismissed.

The lawsuit came last November from author Terri Vanessa Donald who claimed the film infringed on her 2007 book “Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit.” According to Donald, she sent Perry’s company a copy of her book years before “Good Deeds” began its production.

Fortunately for Perry, the judge did not feel the similarities between her book and the film was sufficient enough to sustain a copyright infringement claim. Donald was seeking $225,000 in damages and story credit on the film.

Good Deeds, starring Perry along with Thandie Newton and Gabrielle Union, grossed $35 million at the domestic box office.

Donald is a military veteran and one-time aspiring actress. “Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit” was her first novel.

Patrick Obahiagbon, the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, in this interview with GBENRO ADEOYE, talks about his controversial way of speaking and why he chooses to speak that way

What is your educational background
I am by the grace of the celestial choir, a legal practitioner, a public administrator, an international historian and a diplomat. I earned a degree in Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria about 25 years ago and I do also have a double-barreled Master’s degree in Public Administration and in International History and Diplomacy.

Why do you always speak ‘big grammar’?
I am not really consensus ad idem with those who opine that my idiolect is advertently obfuscative. No no no, it’s just that I am in my elements when the colloquy has to do with the pax nigeriana of our dreams and one necessarily needs to fulminate against the alcibiadian modus vivendi of our prebendal political class.

Woman Forces Man to Have Sex with Her Friend at Gunpoint, Prosecutors Say

Woman Forces Man to Have Sex with Her Friend at Gunpoint

COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A suburban woman was accused of giving a man she didn't know a ride in River North and then forcing him at gunpoint to have sex with her friend in the back seat.

Cierra Ross, 25, of Olympia Fields, was charged with armed robbery and sexual assault in the July 26 incident, which prosecutors say started in River North when Ross picked up the victim.

The 33-year-old-man was standing in the 400 block of North Kingsbury Avenue about 5 a.m. on July 26 when Ross pulled up and offered him a ride, Assistant State's Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said in court Thursday.

The man hopped in the passenger side. As Ross drove, she pulled out a black revolver, pointed it at the man and "demanded [he] get into the backseat of the car and have sex with [her] friend," Pillsbury said.

The man climbed into the backseat, where an unidentified woman made him take off his clothes. The man was then forced to have sex with the woman, even though he begged her to stop, Pillsbury said.

The man saw "an opportunity to flee" when a pair of headlights came in to view. He ran out of the car wearing only a T-shirt, she said.

The oncoming car was a taxi, and the driver picked up the nearly naked man and took him to his Berwyn home. Pillsbury said the taxi driver also let the man use his phone to photograph the license plate of the car in which he had been attacked.

The women also took cash and credit cards from the man, Pillsbury said. The credit cards were then used at several locations soon after the attack, she said.

Ross, who has been convicted twice of misdemeanor solicitation of a prostitute, was ordered held Thursday after bail was set at $75,000 by Cook County Judge Israel Desierto.

The second woman has not been identified.
