The leak of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer put a crimp in Marvel Studios’ marketing plan for the 2015 superhero blockbuster. That didn’t stop them from blaming Hydra, but, on the plus side, the leaked trailer and the official release not long afterward shattered viewing records on YouTube. It is also spurring the film studio to show even more during the originally planned debut on Tuesday and the following week.
According to Marvel, the official Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer rang up 34.3 million global views in a 24 hour period. This destroyed the previous 20 million view record set by Iron Man 3. That’s only natural though, right?

However, the anticipation of the trailer was supposed to be used as a way to bring in viewers to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D airing on ABC the night of Tuesday, October 28. That incentive is now gone, so Marvel has just announced that an “exclusive piece” from Avengers: Age of Ultron will be shown instead.
Additionally, more footage will be shown the following Tuesday, November 4 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC with the Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop! The studio promises “another taste” with this showing. Similar special programs have been used in the past by Marvel to promote Marvel films thanks to the power of Disney owning the studio plus ABC.
Now the question is how much more can Marvel reveal of Age of Ultron before they run the serious risk of spoiling the entire plot. The movie does not come out until next May, and just the first trailer alone was filled with all sorts of Easter Eggs that were quickly analyzed and scrutinized by movie and comic aficionados. There’s still seven months to go, so hopefully Marvel movie fans won’t be burned out by the latest Avengers adventure before it is even released.
Speaking of which, here’s the official plot line that Marvel put out along with the trailer.
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
