Eazy-E Resurrected Onstage with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at 2013 Rock The Bells [Video]
The late Eazy-E made his posthumous return at the 2013 Rock the Bells festival in San Bernardino, Calif., Saturday (Sept. 7). The hologram of the Compton rapper performed with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony on what would have been his 50th birthday.
According to Billboard, DJ Yella did the honors of introducing Easy-E to the stage. The virtual figure appeared onstage and asked the crowd, “What’s Up L.A.?” Eazy then launch into his performance with ‘Boyz-N-the-Hood,’ ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and ‘Foe Tha Love of $’ with Bone Thugs backing him up.
Eazy-E’s son, Eric Wright, Jr., admitted that he was skeptical at first of how organizers was going to pull it off. After watching his late father’s virtual performance, he’s happy that audiences had a chance to see why Eazy was such an influential figure in hip-hop.
“I was nervous to see what it is,” he told HipHopDX. “I definitely was in the beginning. I’m glad the crowd loved it. [It was a] good reaction. Individuals said they wanted to walk up there and ask him questions. I’m beautiful for the response. It’s a blessing.”
Props to the organizers for pulling off one of the most memorable spectacles at Rock the Bells with their virtual performance of Eazy-E himself.
